Abstract
The laparoscopic management of a hepatic tumor is unfamiliar to most surgeons, and here we present our experience with the surgical technique and postoperative clinical data for resection of hepatic tumor using gasless laparoscopic surgery. Nine hepatic tumors were reseated using a laparoscopic gasless technique. They included 1 isolated metastatic lesion, 6 hepatocellular carcinoma, 1 billiary cystadenocarcinoma, and 1 incidentally-found previously, pathologically unconfirmed nodular hyperplasia. Among 9 cases, 5 cases were completed laparoscopically and 1 hepatectomy was performed by laparoscopic- assisted technique. Three cases were converted to open hepatectomy due to bleeding or technical difficulty for resection. Mean operation time was 225minutes, and mean hospital stay was 8 days. Estimated blood loss was 500§¢, and an average 1.6 shots of analgesics were given postoperatively. In conclusion, by using a gasless laparoscopic technique, hepatic resection could be performed safely for selected cases to remove the hepatoma.
